Day 19: Queer Hispanic Communities

A little over a week ago, we received a family with a transgendered mother. They have been staying at the shelter indefinitely because no one they know in the United States wants to sponsor them (to help them buy their ticket and get to their destination). No one wants to sponsor a trans-family.

It makes me wonder if this is common. More generally, I wonder if and how queer communities are accepted by migrant communities.

The family still hasn't found anyone to buy them a ticket.  It takes most families three days at the most.
